โœฆ Synopsis

The anodic photocurrent produced under the irradiation (350 c 1 < 420 nm) of the suspensions containing TiOr particlesmethyl viologen-polyalcohol or sugar, was measured at various pH values. The dependences of the rates of the changes of photocurrent with time (Ai/At) and the maximum photocurrent values (i,) as functions of pH have shown: (a) the speciftc adsorption of the polyalcohol or sugar molecules occurs before their photo-oxidation, and (b) the participation of both hydroxilic groups and OH-ions in the mechanism of the hole consumption is simultaneous. The hole scavenging efficiency of several compounds having a different chain length and number of OH groups was examined in order to obtain more information on the conversion of biomass components into electricity and/or convenient fuels.

## Abstract The effect of calcination temperature on the photocatalytic degradation of phenol with aqueous suspensions of synthetic anatase and rutile TiO~2~ under UV light irradiation (__ฮป__ > 320 nm), was studied in the absence and presence of NaF. The presence of fluoride accelerates the degrada
