✦ Synopsis
A polycrystalline sample of the perovskite La 2 NiRhO 6 has been prepared. Neutron di4raction shows the compound to be orthorhombic (space group Pbnm; a,)4(0535.5؍ b,)4(9255.5؍ and c)5(5038.7؍ A s at 5 K) with a disordered arrangement of Ni and Rh over the six-coordinate B sites. Consideration of the B+O bond lengths and the paramagnetic Curie constant suggests that the Ni and Rh cations are trivalent and low spin. Magnetization and neutron di4raction experiments show that a transition to a spin-glass phase occurs upon cooling below 12 K.

Two new compounds, Sr 3 NiRhO 6 and Sr 3 CuRhO 6 , belonging to a family of 2H-perovskite related materials, were synthesized in both a commensurate and an incommensurate form. The oxides were structurally characterized by powder X-ray Rietveld re5nements and magnetic measurements. The commensurate
## Abstract A new oxide of nominal stoichiometry YCrMnO~5~ has been prepared in polycrystalline form by wet‐chemistry procedures followed by thermal treatments under high‐oxygen‐pressure conditions. This material has been characterized by X‐ray and neutron powder diffraction (NPD), magnetotransport
