✦ Synopsis
The new quadruple perovskite Lnb2CU2Ti2.~Sn~O~v6, 0.0_< x<_ 0.5, Ln = Gd, Sm have structures based on alternating double layers of CuOs square pyramids and TiO 6 oct~edra. The structural properties of the doped derivatives of these materials have been studied by X-ray diffraction and thermogravimetric analysis in order to determine the oxygen content of these materials. Substitution of Sc on the Ti site has been successfully undertaken with the object of raising the copper oxidation state above 2 +. The electronic properties of these materials have been measured and are reported.
