✦ Synopsis
Abstract
The urushiol components in Chinese lacquer “Kuro‐urushi”, which was processed by treating Chinese Raw Urushi (“Ki‐urushi”) with Fe(OH)~2~, were isolated by reversed‐phase liquid chromatography. A new component, which was not present in “Ki‐urushi”, was found. Structural analysis using ^1^H NMR and mass spectrometry showed that the component is a regioselectively formed water adduct of the original urushiol component, i. e., 3‐(11′E,13′Z‐8′‐hydroxypentadecadienyl)catechol.
