โœฆ Synopsis

Anodlc stnppmg voltammetIy of cadnuum and lead m pure water, of conductlvlty as low as 0 6 #, was studied at a mercury nucroelectrode obtained by ex situ deposltlon of mercury on a lo-pm radms platmum disc electrode The anodlc stnppmg peaks were mvestlgated m detad to venfy the influences of the solution resistance and nugratlon on peak posltlon (I?,), peak width at half-height (WI,z) and peak current The results showed that the presence of a small ohmic drop leads to larger WI,z values than those obtamed m the presence of supporting electrolyte, whde the peak posltlon vaned slightly as a consequence of a change m the liquid Junction potential For concentrations of the metal Ion higher than 0 1 PM, a contnbutlon due to mlgratlon added to the dlffuslon current when the samples were examined m the absence of supporting electrolyte The results were also compared wtth theoretical predictions, m particular, the effects of mlgratlon were studled and transferred to a quantltatwe basis

The adsorption and the changes in the interfacial composition of octanoic acid at the mercury/electrolyte interface was studied by measuring the differential capacitance at different concentrations of the supporting electrolyte, at various supporting electrolyte systems and at various temperatures.
