Abstract
This article is a brief introduction to different aspects of string theory on maximally supersymmetric plane waves in ten dimensions. The article touches on the following aspects: quantization of free strings on the plane wave background, the plane wave as a Penrose limit and it's relation to AdS / CFT; and finally the causal structure of the plane wave and holography.

## Abstract In these proceedings, we summarize our studies of free string propagation in (nearโ)singular scaleโinvariant plane wave geometries. We analyze the singular limit of the evolution for the centerโofโmass motion and all excited string modes. The requirement that the entire excitation energ
