✦ Synopsis
The problem of a sharp angular notch in static elasticity is solved using the Airy stress function representation of the solution. The singular fields obtained are found to be also useful for the dynamic case. Extension of the method to crack geometries leads to the classical singular fields in Fracture Mechanics. A path independent integral is developed to evaluate the singular stress state and numerical examples are also presented.
