Although applications continue to accrue for LEDs and unit volumes continued to grow in the 25% range, the value growth was at the lowest rate since the 2001 contraction, due to vicious competition and heavy price erosion in the mobile appliance market, the largest market segment. Solid-state laser applications were less in evidence this year.
