✦ Synopsis

The first results of COSY experiments concerning strangeness production in elementary pp-interactions are presented. Data have been taken for hyperon-as well as ~?t_ and K+K -production. Preliminary total cross sections in the threshold region are given. The data demonstrates the high quality of the COSY-beam and the high sensitivity of the detection systems at COSY.

Presently unpolarized H-beams are frequently used and polarized beams are under development. In the near future also a deuteron beam will be available. The momentum range starts at 295 MeV/c, far below the pion production channels and goes up to 3.45
