Stop, Drop and Flop in the Slop in the "Sounds Like Reading" series would capture the interest of any child's attention by the title in itself. The illustrations are simple and bold in bright, catch your eye, colors. Each creature or child depicted in the illustrations is also unique—from frogs to pigs to slugs. Learning to read can be extremely difficult for young children.

This series works very well by using rhymes and repetition to get kids used to short vowel sounds and combining sound-alike words into sentences. From simple words like Fred, sped, and sled on the left side of each double page spread combined with illustrations on the right showing the action, young children can find words that sound similar. For instance, Fred sped his sled by the bed. The illustrations are cute and work well with the text. The colors are bright and cheerful. A great series for teachers and parents to use with children.
