In a modern world with magic and monsters, the United States depends on the men and women of Detachment 1039 to defend against the supernatural and the paranormal.

Colonel Mark Kenslir led a squad of Stone Soldiers into the Arizona desert to stop a shapeshifter who was ripping out the hearts of victims and consuming them to steal their memories, their form and their power. Unfortunately, the shapeshifter killed Kenslir and his men.

Recovering from his fatal wounds, Kenslir awakens with no memories of how he died or who killed him. With only the help of the two teens who found him, he sets out to recover his memories and complete his last mission.
