✦ Synopsis
On the basis of the F-matrix method for rigorous treatment of connection problems associated with an ordinary second-order differential equation of the Schro dinger type, one can in particular cases construct an invariant, the value of which can be obtained by an analysis in the neighbourhood of a transition point. From this result one obtains a Stokes constant for asymptotic solutions valid far away from the transition point. The procedure described in this paper may contribute to the understanding of the connection problem in particular cases.
1997 Academic Press Stokes constant. The result obtained in this application is well-known, but the method by which it is obtained is new and may contribute to the understanding of how connection problems can be solved in a new way.
