diene-l,3,5-triol, a New Metabolite from Streptomycesfinrbriutus (MILLARD et B U R R 1926) The title compound 2, a new C,,-metabolite related to the previously found (3S,8E)-1,3-dihydroxydec-8-en-5one (l), was isolated from the culture filtrate of StreptomycesJimhriatus, strain TU 2335 by solvent extraction and chromatography. The constitution and the absolute configuration were determined by spectroscopic methods and chemical derivatizdtion. The relative configurations were determined by NOE measurements with the silyl-protected 3,s-isopropylidene derivative of 2. ') 256.
