✦ Synopsis

We show that the classical stochastic motion of an open bosonic string leads to the same results as the standard first quantization of this system. For this, the diffusion constant governing the process has to be proportional to a X , the Regge slope parameter, which is the only constant, along with the velocity of light, needed to describe the motion.

## Abstract The bosonization equivalence between the 2–dimensional Dirac and Laplacian operators can be used to derive new interesting identities involving Theta functions. We use these formulae to compute the multiloop partition function of the bosonic open string in presence of a constant electro

In this paper we investigate the rectilinear motion of a string or chain with no bending stiffness, which is arranged in a straight line and bent double. We focus our attention on phenoinena which are virtually possible at the kink and examine two mechanisms, one of which is dissipative and the othe

Conformal invariance conditions on a sigma model of the open bosonic string including the tachyon, the abelian gauge field an the first excited massive mode are calculated up to order a'. Inner symmetries are used to compute conformal invariance conditions from renormalization group beta functions.
