β¦ Synopsis
For the first time a new type of a structural phase transition in rare earth Jahn-Teller compounds, the stimulated cooperative Jahn-Teller effect, has been found and investigated experimentally.
The type of phase transition. the values of the order parameter and the critical magnetic field have been determined by measuring the magnetostriction of the Jahn-Teller compound TmPO, along various crystal axes in a pulsed magnetic field.
