Phoebe loves the little beach cottage they still own jointly but it needs updates. She decides to paint the place pink so Ryder can never even think about selling it. But when she falls off a ladder, Ryder steps in. Encouraged by his father Stanley, a Vietnam Vet, Ryder sets out to win back the only woman hes ever loved. But shes not going to make reconciliation easy. While Ryder turns to his dad for advice, Phoebe depends on Fernando, a wise-cracking flamingo, who just happens to be a lawn ornament.
Eager to help with the wooing, Stanley secretly drops off dinners, supposedly Ryders own efforts. Phoebe invites Ryder to take the guest room so she can flaunt what he left behind. Game on. As Ryder lays down a new roof and paints the cottage a girly pink, Ryder hopes Phoebe can see hes changed.
Eventually, Phoebe and Ryder reach a make or break point. Are the stakes too high? Stanley provides an answer. All these years hes kept a secret that could devastate Ryder. Now he hopes sharing it with Phoebe might restore his son to a future with the woman he dearly loves. A story of second chances and invincible love.
