Stern seal plant expands

W ärtsilä has opened an extension to the production plant in Wuxi, China that manufactures seals, bearings and thruster units.

Investment in the factory has totalled 20.8M during [2005][2006][2007]. With this investment, the company aims to be more able to meet the fast growing demand in China, to improve efficiency as well as optimise production globally. It also shows Wärtsilä's commitment to the growing market in China where shipbuilding has grown 500% in the last ten years and currently accounts for over 40% of new vessel orders.
