T he Sterling Fluid Systems Process
Pump Group is no longer for sale and will now be further developed, strategically and structurally, under the ownership of TBG Holdings NV (see Pump Industry Analyst, March and June 2008).
Sterling Fluid Systems says that although there has been strong interest in the business from a number of parties, due to the current turmoil in the financial markets it has not been possible to complete a transaction under acceptable terms and conditions.
According to Sterling Fluid Systems, the process pump business has performed positively during 2008 with year-to-date performance substantially ahead of both last year and 2008 budget. Sterling Fluid Systems says that management will enter 2009 in a strong position for further growth and profitability.
TBG and Sterling Fluid Systems management have already started planning for a three year business cycle to build a successful and sustainable future for the international pump group.
Sterling Fluid Systems specialises in liquid pumps, vacuum pumps and systems. With 1600 employees worldwide and a turnover of more than 250 million, Sterling Fluid Systems has 10 manufacturing centres, 60 sales offices and more than 100 service centres worldwide. Brands include SIHI, Halberg and LaBour. SPP Pumps Ltd was sold to India's Kirloskar Brothers Ltd in 2003.
TBG, which has an annual turnover of more than 2 billion, sold Peerless Pump Co to Grundfos last year (see Pump Industry Analyst, December 2007).
