The photoinduced electron transfer reaction of 1,l-diphenyl-l,n-alkadienes in the presence of phenanthrene and 1,4-dicyanobenzene as a sensitizer and an electron acceptor, respectively gave intramolecular tandem cyclization products in highly stereocontrolled manner.
