Whereas iododegermylation

of (Z)-l-triethylgermyl-1-dodecene gives (Z)-l-iodo-1-dodecene, bromodegermylation proves to give (E)-l-bromo-1-dodecene. Two general procedures for the preparation of vinylgermanes are also described.
