Certain pseudoglycals are shown to be excellent substrates for the palladium catalyzed introduction of unsaturated pendants into the I-, 2-or 4-positions followed by Pd-mediated cyclization. This methodology provides a ready entry into homochiral substituted cyclopentanes and their heterocyclic analogs.
