This short contribution is intended to provide an introduction to stereolithography for those to whom the process is unfamiliar.

Although the examples given are generally of a medical nature, it is hoped that they will serve to suggest engineering applications of the technique, in areas such as, e.g., model making, and die-and-mould manufacture.
