A new diethyl-substituted organic donor, Et 2 BEDT-TTP, has been synthesized. The radical-cation salt, (Et 2 BEDT-TTP) 2 HgI 3 has a unique crystal structure where the stereochemical cis-and trans-isomers are arranged regularly to make tetramerized columns.
