β¦ Synopsis
D.c. SQUIDS for liquid nitrogen operation are implemented with grain boundary Josephson junctions in off-axis sputtered Y1Ba2Cu30Γ stripes at step edges in NdGaO 3 substrates. The special properties of the Josephson junctions due to the excellent lattice match between the orthorhombic substrate and the YBCO stripes are described. The SQUID has a flux modulation up to temperatures very close to the critical temperature of the YBCO stripes beyond the edge. At 77 K the maximum slope is dU/dcb = 80/aV {o 1 and the product of the critical current times the tunnel resistance is IcRN = 40 #V.
