โฆ Synopsis
Stemming the tide
Our desks are groaning under the weight of stacks of manuscripts by authors who wish to see their work in print. The time required for papers approved by editors and members of the editorial board to be published is becoming unreasonably long. In order to reduce this backlog of manuscripts it will be necessary to extend the size of Wood Science and Technology, at least as a temporary measure.
Editors and publishers, upon careful deliberation of all pros and cons, have therefore decided to increase the number of pages of individual issues. For 1985 an extension by 20%, i.e. 16 pages per issue, has been planned. The publishers have calculated a new subscription rate of 307.-DM (112.-US $), based on extended volume, inflation of paper prices in Europe, and regularly increasing printers' tariffs. At present we cannot foretell whether this extension will be permanent or merely temporary. Our final decision will undoubtedly be affected by our authors and, last not least, by our readers. We should be interested in your point of view.
