β¦ Synopsis
The torsional oscillations of a system of rotors with different types of flexible couplings are considered. The motion of the system is modelled by ordinary differential equations of second order. The vibration is excited by a periodic external torque applied to one of the rotors. The excitation frequency is proportional to the rotational speed. The steady state response of the system is analyzed. Comparative results are obtained for centrifugal and standard flexible couplings with linear and non-linear elasticity. The damping in the couplings is assumed to be linear. A numerical-analytical vibration analysis technique is used. Frequency response curves of the system are obtained. The parameter synthesis technique of centrifugal coupling is described. Both theoretical and experimental results are presented.
