Abstrwt-Multiple steady states are known to be possible in many types of chemical reactor due to the non-linear dependence of reaction rate on either temperature or reactant concentration. It is reasoned in this study that multiple steady states can also exist in a gas-solid fluidised bed reactor. T
A mathematical model for flmd catalytrc crackmg umts IS developed The model takes mto account the krnetlcs of the crackmg reactions, as well as the kmetics of coke combustion m the regenerator A model equations It 1s found that multrphcity of the steady states extends over a wide scope of operatrng
A method of linearisation is described which enables the calculation of the steady state flow in networks of pipes and pumps handling an incompressible fluid. In an Appendix a numerical method is outlined for the repeated solution of large sparse sets of linear equations.
THERE is increasing interest in the possibilities of using immobilised or insolubilised enzymes, i.e. enzymes trapped in or attached to solid supports, as industrial catalysts. For many of the systems studied so far, where diffusional resistances have not been rate-limiting, the kinetics of the inso
