β¦ Synopsis
A solution of the tlow network problem ansmg from a plate column fitted with an external manrfold has been obtamed by solving the mass and energy equations The solutton makes use of Powell's method which proved to be very satisfactory The resuks show many zero flows In the branches of the manrfold and this can be corrected by the use of a vanable area mamfold A one parameter model based on an exponentially varymg area was found to activate the flows in all branches of the manrfold tNTRODUCTION
