โฆ Synopsis
The steady two-dimensional flow of a gaseous fuel undergoing oxidation (burning) in the vicinity of a hot vertical wall is investigated for combined free and forced convection using the differential equations of continuity, momentum, energy, and species conservation. The equations are first reduced by means of similarity transformations and then solved numerically by trmite difference methods. Assuming that the Arrhenius Law is valid for the reaction rate, and that the fuel and reaction products behave as ideal gases, certain flow characteristics, such as velocity and temperature distributions, are predicted for several operating conditions.
