โœฆ Synopsis

This descriptive article reports the results a study of masters agribusiness programs in existence as of May 1, 1989. A classification model for masters agribusiness programs is proposed and programs were classified into the model's seven general category structures. The graduate curricula of 95 different US agribusiness masters programs are profiled. Only 22 agribusiness masters programs require graduates to take courses in both the college of Business and the College of Agriculture.

This study grew out of a larger study to improve the competitiveness of US agriculture by enhancing the management and leadership skills of agribusiness professionals. * The tremendous changes taking place in the agribusiness industry have created a far different market for agriculturally related products and services from the one that existed only a few years ago. Rapid changes in the environment have caused a transition from a production-oriented agriculture in the United States to a highly competitive, customer-oriented, global agribusiness marketplace. 1 These changes have resulted in an increased demand for diverse skills in agribusiness graduates.
