✦ Synopsis

Carbon research and industry in Korea are far behind those in advanced countries. Almost all carbon products are being imported from Japan, America, Germany and France.

From 1980, some institutes and universities have started to research carbon materials. Recently some small and medium scale industries were established to produce carbon materials such as active carbon, graphite heating elements, carbon black, carbon fibers, and so on. However, the production scale is very small. In Korea, we have no carbon society as yet. Recently many carbon researchers and industry representatives have an interest to establish a carbon materials societv in Korea.
