✦ Synopsis

Experiments with biological systems generally involve sufficient variability to impart some degree of uncertainty to any conclusions drawn from the observed results. Proper evaluation of such experiments thus requires the application of sound statistical methods. Statistical considerations have to be included in both the design and analysis of an experiment since the two are interrelated. An appropriate analysis will depend upon the design and, conversely, the choice of design will be influenced by the analysis required.
