The pair correlations and order parameters for molecular liquids composed of ellipsoidal molecules. have been studied by the method of conditional distribution, proposed by Rott. Within the framework of the method, the concept of the average-force potentials is used to develop a truncation procedure for an arbitrary equation of the chain. A closed system of integral equations for the average-force potential is similar to that used by Brook-Levinson and Zakharov for a nematic phase.
