✦ Synopsis
A survey has been conducted of the applicability of a number of statistical counting methods to the problem of analysing the load histories of light bridges. The results are described and discussed. The conclusion from the work was that, of all the statistical countingmethods considered, the Lambierange paircount offers the bestmeans of'synthesizing the dynamic response of bridges. The results from this counting method also indicate the possibility of reducing the bridge strain-time history to one damage cycle per crossing equal in amplitude to the maximum strain range of the history.
