Summer comfort conditions in Athens, Greece, have been analyzed statistically. The temporal variation of the number of hours inside the comfort zone as well as the corresponding frequency distribution have been calculated. The persistence of discomfort conditions has been analyzed and was found to b

โฆ Synopsis
In this paper, using daily sunshine data of the period 1950-1980, provided by the National Observatory of Athens, the empirical probability pro(x) for the daily relative sunshine to be greater than x is calculated for each month m. Fitting the empirical probability curves using the formula Pro(x) = (1 -xt)t(l +atx+a2x 2) the results show a good agreement between the calculated values and the empirical ones. The parameters k, l, a~, a2 are found to be different for each month m. These curves are useful for the application of solar energy in a particular geographical location.
