✦ Synopsis

We discuss the deformation quantization approach to perturbative quantum field theory. The various forms of Wick's theorem are shown to be a direct consequence of the structure of the star products. The scattering function for a scalar field in interaction with a spacetime-dependent source is derived. The translation of the results to the operator formalism reproduces known relations which lead to the derivation of the Feynman rules.

Quantum field theory is frequently approached from the perspective of particle physics. This book adopts a more general point of view and includes applications of condensed matter physics. Written by a highly respected writer and researcher, it first develops traditional concepts, including Feynman

## Abstract This paper provides a primer in quantum field theory (QFT) based on Hopf algebra and describes new Hopf algebraic constructions inspired by QFT concepts. The following QFT concepts are introduced: chronological products, __S__ ‐matrix, Feynman diagrams, connected diagrams, Green functio
