✦ Synopsis

An x-ray Ñuorescence method without standards or reference materials for stainless and tool steel samples is presented. The determination of two Ñuorescence spectra of an unknown sample under two di †erent sets of irradiation conditions provides a system of non-linear equations by means of the theoretical description of primary and secondary Ñuorescence intensities. The procedure was tested with NIST standard reference samples assumed as unknowns, with excellent results.
