STANDARD SAMPLES.
THE renewal No. 3oc of the bureau's standard sample No. 3ob, chrome-vanadium steel, has been prepared and is ready for distribution. The new sample has the following composition: carbon .490, manganese .71, phosphorus .oi9, sulphur .oi3, silicon .236, chromium .97I, and vanadium .24 per cent. The price of this standard is the same as that of No. 3ob, $3.00 per I5O grams.
