โฆ Synopsis
Standard deviation in sound power measurements made by the free field method (ISO 3745) is discussed. The authors numerically investigated the relationship between the standard deviation and the directivity characteristics of sound sources. The standard deviation of the sound power of sources as measured according to ISO 3745 increases as the directivity of the sources becomes sharp. However, the standard deviations are almost constant when the directivity characteristics approximate a cos 2" 6 function with n < 3.
