โœฆ Synopsis


The subject of the paper is investigation of stable charged particle beam confinement in periodic electrostatic fields. General conditions of linear stability are derived. It is shown that there are similarities between beam confinement in periodic electrostatic fields and in radiofrequency quadrupolar fields: zone structure of stability conditions and a possibility to describe the charged particle confinement in terms of a pseudopotential. Shown is the existence of non-linear resonances.
