Despite a huge amount of experimental and theoretical investigations of fullerene synthesis the mechanism of their formation remains an unresolved mystery. Recent studies have revealed a new efficient mechanism of fullerene formation from polycyclic polyyne rings. Although this fact alone cannot exp
