scales was examined in an attempt tto increase the clinical utility of the EPPS. The results suggested that deviantly high scores for bot>h groups on succorance, abasement and achie.mnent., and deviantly low scores for females on affiliation and nurturance were indicative of psychological disturbance. Significantly low scores on deference, order aiid endurance appeared to be related t o the denial of disturbance. Heterosexualit,y, change and aggression, when sigIiificant#ly elevated, seemed to point, to lack of conforruity. Exhibitionism, autonomy and int'raception showed little relationship to any of the ,IIAlPI scales. There was rat,her striking siiiiilarit>y behween the present findings and those of several prei.ious investigations, which employed samples from diffcrent, types of populat, ions. 'The formula for the generalized distance function is D = .\I Zd2, in which d in this instance is the difference in T-score pointa fpr one scale between test and retest. For the purpose of this study it was necessary to calculate only the Wz, as this is perfectly correlated wlth D.
