We give a brief overview of frequently used stabilised finite element schemes for steady incompressible flow. We derive Taylor-Galerkin schemes for the flow equations and show how SUPG-type and Taylor-Galerkin methods can be interpreted within the same framework.

We present an overview of the most common numerical solution strategies for the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations, including fully implicit formulations, artificial compressibility methods, penalty formulations, and operator splitting methods (pressure/velocity correction, projection methods).
In this paper we present a comparative study of three non-linear schemes for solving ®nite element systems of Navier±Stokes incompressible ¯ows. The ®rst scheme is the classical Newton±Raphson linearization, the second one is the modi®ed Newton±Raphson linearization and the last one is a new scheme
