✦ Synopsis

Chiral oxazolinyl-modi®ed ferrocenecarboxylic acid, (S,S p )-[Fe{ 5 -C 5 H 3 (CO 2 H-1)(C 6 H 10 NO-2)}( 5 -C 5 H 5 )] or [Fe(C 5 H 5 )-(C 12 H 14 NO 3 )], crystallizes as a molecular compound, featuring an intramolecular OÐHÁ Á ÁN hydrogen bond between the carboxyl hydroxy group and oxazoline N atom, with an OÁ Á ÁN separation of 2.559 (3) A Ê . The ferrocene substituents are rotated only slightly from the plane of their parent cyclopentadienyl ring: 7.65 (17) (oxazoline) and 2.3 (3) (carboxyl).
