Simple transmetalation from lithium to zinc attenuates the basicity and nucleophilicity of silicon and tin main group organometallics, thereby rendering the stoichiometric use of copper superfluous. All common carbonÀsilicon and selected carbonÀtin bond formations are now catalytic in copper.
