✦ Synopsis
Portal triad occlusion is necessary during orthotopic liver transplantation and is often used during hepatic resection. Although the haemodynamic consequences of this manoeuvre are usually well tolerated, spontaneous splenic rupture may occur. Two such cases are reported.
