We present a case of spontaneous painless rupture of the peroneus longus tendon in a patient with poorly controlled type 2 diabetes and a distal sensory neuropathy. Tendon rupture in the diabetic neuropathic foot has been previously described, but not of the peroneus longus tendon.
Painless tendon rupture in the diabetic foot or ankle can present a diagnostic challenge, and requires a high index of suspicion. Copyright ยฉ 2011 John Wiley & Sons.
