SUMlMARY
The complications of digital block anaesthesia are discussed with particular reference to gangrene of the finger and its possible aetiology; 44 known cases of gangrene are discussed.
A series of 267 cases is presented in which gangrene has not occurred, and the method of anaesthesia used in these cases is described.
The best method of treatment should gangrene occur is suggested, and precautions to be taken in the use of digital block anaesthesia are outlined.
