Abstract

17 spontaneous Gal^βˆ’^ mutants of S. coelicolor were studied using Southern blottings, but no insertion or deletion mutations were found. 10 mutants of S. lividans included three deletion mutations. The reasons for the lack of insertion mutants are discussed.
