419 Spectrometric Measurement of High Temperatures.--Crova has devised an instrument which he calls speetropyrometer. It consists of the combination of a direct-vision spectroscope, a collimator and dispersive prisms, and a graduated circle for determining the degree of rotation which is necessary to equalize the incandescent light with that of a staudard lamp. It ihrnishes the means for accurate measurements, from all temperatures between 580 ° (1076°F.) and the highest possible temperatures.--Comptes Rendus.
